You can't even blame teams like Spain and Barcelona for it, if a team wants to change their tactics from offensive to being defensive then so be it. But like you I suppose I was very dissapointed when I saw the French starting 11, only 2 attacking players on the pitch that could actually do something in Benz and Ribery. They wanted to play counter attacking football, but failed badly and deserve to be knocked out.

You won't see Germany ploy this tactic, well they will have less of the possession, but you won't see them drop Muller and put Lars Bender there just ahead of Boateng.

There needs to be another 17 goals scored for this to break the 85 goals that were scored at Euro 2000.

9 goals for it to beat Euro 2004 and 2008.

It's already beat Euro 96 and the tournaments before that had less than 16 teams.

I love the way Spain play. I don't find it boring. I could watch it all day ..

Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, Alonso, Busquets, Silva in the same team .. ooooo

Not there fault, that teams are so scared of them, and not good enough and resort to "boring" football. Spain aren't boring, the opposition is.

Heard a lot of complaining from many different sources about watching Spain and the blame the opposition gets when they park the bus rather than pressure them like Spain does when they lose the ball. Basically a lot of people find it boring that one team has the ball all the time and just pass it around, but so far hear no one come up with any ideas on how to beat them, simply because you may not be able to? It's a team where any of the starting 11 could more or less walk in to any of the other teams in the tournament, probably in the world. The majority of the players are from the same league, hell the same 2-4 teams, the only team that even comes close to that is the German.

I cannot say i blame the opposition, the change started in the 90s to make the Barcelona academy play the Tiki-taka that they do, because not only do they know how the ball will be played 99% of the time, they are also all world class players, you cant just counter that. The only way i see France beating Spain when they play like they want to would be to travel back in time and start the same thing in Lyon, PSG or OM in the 90s. The Germans have luckily started a similar thing although a bit later but we are just beginning to see the fruit of that with the team they have now, if they had not done that you might as well just hand Spain the trophy to begin with.

That being said, Spain can of course still be beaten, but i think its much more a case of them not playing up to their best more than the opposition locking them down, you can try to park the bus, but that requires a bit of luck along with the very hard and tiresome work. I hope we get to see Portugal pressure them a bit, i don't think they can park the bus well enough for that to be a viable tactic.

I'm all for keeping the ball and passing to feet but Spain are boring to watch now, in my opinion. There's less ambition than there was a few years ago.

It's a little bit like how Arsenal were fantastic to watch in the 00s, but now the passing is too safe & the build up is too slow.
