Wouldn't it just be done off the other persons insurance if it's totally their fault?

Yeah but you wouldn't get a hire car in the meantime I don't believe. Unless their insurance covered you for one, but I'm not sure it would.

I'd still be pretty goosed though, not sure how I'd get to work without the car. I could just about make it into the office with walking and the train, but once I move onto another site I'd have no chance.

It seems like the referee thought the keeper kneed the attacker in the stomach after getting hold of the ball. I can somewhat see his point, but I wouldn't have called it a penalty. It seemed like the attacked pushed the keeper anyways. He also made a meal out of the contact.
