By all means explain why regarding achievements as something that sets managers apart as being wrong.

Oh for fucks sake, Capello has greater achievements than AVB and has done more, Capello is more accomplished yes.. but who knows what AVB could do eventually? He could change your mind quite easily, and the point I'm making is Brendan Rodgers shouldn't be looked down on like you were doing with the whole AVB in another league thing when he's done similar things to AVB at with a poorer team, and when looking for a manager like Liverpool are they shouldn't look at it like you are because you're not being fair to Rodgers at all, fucking mong.Laurencio wrote:kyro7 wrote:Why the fuck are you comparing accomplishments of managers when one has been given much more of a chance?Laurencio wrote:
What? I know you disagree with it, but that's the truth.
Gee I don't know, maybe because that's why I see Villas Boas as in another league? Seriously, Andres Villas Boas has had 3 jobs in management, Fabio Capello has had 8. Andres Villas Boas hasn't had the chance to prove himself as much as Capello, but Capello is easily more accomplished than Andres Villas Boas and I would say Fabio Capello is in another league. Same for Brendan Rodgers/Andres Villas Boas.
If that's wrong then fine, I'm wrong.

I'm a Liverpool fan sharing one of my favored expressions with my fellow Liverpool fans.
I'd understand if I quoted you but where does it imply I was talking to you?
Fuck off numbnuts.

He could yes, but as is Capello is on another level in my opinion.
Fair enough. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I personally think AvB has done more and accomplished more and is therefore currently in another league. However I also think Brendan Rodgers is in another league than Lambert and Martinez, so I might be a tad snobby on that issue. You are right though, I shouldn't judge Rodgers, even though I find the gulf in accomplishments and achievements to be huge.

Why is Rodgers in another league to Lambert?
I hope style of play isn't involved.

Cause I personally think Rodgers has done a great job with Swansea, and yes, style of play is involved. It's not really something I can explain sensibly.

I think if you look at where the teams were when they both started it's easy to see that Lambert has done a better job.
Rodgers took over a Championship side who had been challenging been in/around the play offs in recent times. Lambert took over a side who lost 7-1 at home in League One. Lambert took Rodgers up then got automatic promotion, whilst Rodgers only got in through the play offs.
Rodgers pretty much inherited his side from previous managers. Martinez was the one to give Swansea that style of play. Lambert has rebuilt the squad and made the team gel without many hiccups along the way.
Meh, I think Rodgers is good but I do prefer Lambert for sure. For me style of play is only a tool for success, if it gets you more success that's good, but the style of play in itself is not amazing relevant, especially at a team who aren't at the top. I think there is a lot to admire in the way Norwich play as well.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Villas-Boas didn't fuck up at Chelsea. He weren't given enough time. The players let him down badly. He got a few things wrong, but Roman choked when things got a little rough. Di Matteo did fuck all either, he basically let the players play the way 'they' wanted. Were as AVB was trying to implement a new philosophy. And the players weren't happy. I hope to God Di Matteo gets given the job, and then I can watch them fail epically next season, way out of his depth there. AVB was the long term option for Chelsea, but looks like Fat Frank weren't happy and went and cried like a cunt to the owner.
CL win or not, the core of Chelsea's problems still exist. Which is an alarmingly aging squad in need of a serious shake up, I'd rather have AVB overseeing that project than Di Matteo. They finished 6th in the League.

Not sure how you can say taking a squad capable of winning the CL to 6th and on the very edge of elimination from the CL is not fucking up. Aging squad or not, football is about winning. He tried to change too much too fast. You don't fuck "the old guard" off straight away because you want to do things your way. You see who's not performing and take them out one by one. Gradually decreasing the age of the squad while keeping it performing at a high level.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Wigan owner Dave Whelan has warned Roberto Martinez that he will have
very little input with regards to Liverpool's transfers dealings if he
lands the vacant manager post at Anfield.
Latics boss Martinez is part of Liverpool's six-man shortlist to replace
Kenny Dalglish and Whelan has urged the Spaniard to think carefully
about relinquishing traditonal managerial powers.
Whelan told ESPN: "My information is that the new Liverpool manager will
not be given full responsibility of the football department. There will
be somebody else signing players, and they might not necessarily be the
choice of the manager.
"My advice to Roberto is to think very carefully about this, but
Liverpool are a big club and I hope that they remain one of the big
clubs.
"But I have to say from what I am hearing the new Liverpool setup on the
football side goes well beyond the norm even with a director of
football."
Whelan also criticised the Liverpool process of seeking a 'beauty
parade' of six managers to head to Boston for interviews with owners
Fenway Sports Group, and insisted reports that Martinez is going to
America this week are wide of the mark.
Whelan told ESPN: "My understanding is that Liverpool are seeking a
final shortlist of six managers whom the owners would like to interview.
I am amazed that they think they can do that, it sounds very much an
American way of dealing with these issues in sport, but I would wonder
how those six managers might feel.
"I spoke with mine only yesterday and he is on a week's holiday in my
home in Barbados. The weather is wonderful. Nothing will happen until he
returns, which won't be until next Tuesday, so reports that he is
flying off to Boston today to have talks are not right.
"In fact, he was relaxing on a sun lounger the last time I spoke to him
yesterday, he had a mentally exhausting season and he needs the rest.
"He has not said anything to me yet about what he plans to do, but I
have told him what I think about it, of course I have. I have told him
it doesn't feel right what is happening at Liverpool, but it's for him
to make his own mind up."

That does not sound good. How can you expect a manager to build a successful squad if he has no input on player dealings? No one knows better what sort of player the team needs than the manager...

Yeah shut him the hell up.
There's another article on ESPN talking about how LVG has said he wants the job as manager
Edit: Would you guys want to sign Kalou on a free? I think it'd be worth it

No, I agree with that Ryan. What he got wrong was tryig to change everything in a short space of time. But he was still the right man for the job 'long term'. CL win or not, I still think it'll be a mistake in the long term sacking him, and I'm praying, they'll give Di Matteo the job full time.
Say what you want about Villas-Boas, but when he left, they were 4th, finished 6th. And left with the club still in the CL and FA Cup.
