Agree to be fair. I don't think there's gunna' be any middle ground. This strategy FSG are setting up is either going to be a piece of genius by them, or it's going to fail on epic proportions, and then the whole fanbase will be against them. And we'll have ourselves another H & G saga, which the club really doesn't need.Cadbury wrote:I'm actually quite worried. I seriously think next season will be a complete disaster, especially if we go ahead and get Martinez.
Starting to think we should have kept Kenny. Unless we get Rafa of course.
I'm nervous about the whole thing.

Emile Heskey and Michael Owen are both free-agents. I think that we should sign them and re-unite the lads.

Xavi Valero should have come back ages ago. The man's a genius.
As soon as he left Torres and Reina started playing bad

Well, basically, what we can't have, is a repeat of this season, that'd be an enormous disaster. In terms of the Premier League. I'll be brutally honest, I don't see us getting in the top 4 next season, it's not happening, the teams in front of us, are just a level above is at the moment. So we need a long term project, we NEED to see progression from this season, under Kenny, we regressed, which is why he was sacked.
If we can appoint someone like AVB or Martinez, it's essential they're given time, but for them to get time, there needs to be progression. If any of them 2 can get us playing to a philosophy, a way of playing, and we see progress on the pitch, that'll be enough for me, regarding the season coming up.
If they can get us playing good football, and we finish maybe 5th-6th and are in the hunt for the top 4 right to the end, I'd consider that progress. What we can't afford, is a repeat of this season, and that would be; miles off top 4, stuck behind teams like Everton and Newcastle in 8th place and uninspiring football.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
It could be a disaster in the long term because this DoF shite has been tried and failed before in England.
If we give that time and it doesn't work we going to have to go through a "restructure" again. But next time we'll even further away. We're pretty much at a make or break point and if we get a shithouse like Martinez it will likely be break.
The thing with DoFs is they get so much more time. The manager takes a lot of blame for them. If we get someone who just can't work out the English game then there'll be in-house arguing like fuck, managers being sacked, and it won't be until we realize that all the managers aren't working that it must be the DoF.

It can work, you just need the right people in the right areas. It's a risk, yes. Henry and co want a complete restructure, and want specialists for everyone chosen field. So we won't encounter another Comolli situation...hopefully.
The reason why it didn't work with Comolli was because he was taking care of everything. Kinda like a jack of all trades but a master of none. And in the end, he was just well out of his depth. With someone like Van Gaal, Txixi, Dein...we certainly won't be paying £20m for the Downings of this world.
Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the perfect examples of how we're going to try and operate. It's worked with them, so why not us?

I want Rafa but I've accepted that he's not coming.
AVB's our best realistic target, and I want it sorted sooner rather than later obviously, so thats what triggered the excitement... I'd love LVG too.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
How long to people think this will be sorted out? Just offer Villas-Boas the job, and while doing that, ask if he would mind if we brought in Van Gaal in as whatever the job is. If he says yes, offer the job to both of them.
I don't like how it's all gone quiet apart from people turning us down.

Yeah and the longer we wait, the less time we have to buy some decent players. I have a feeling we'll get someone late and he'll spend too much time settling in and buy shite. Like Roy.
