Song play in Zidane's role, it would get renamed as Song's role.

He only pushes up far because Wenger has not instructed him to sit.. Song defensively is a beast if that's what he's meant to do, he has showed that in past seasons.

Wenger plays Arteta as much a defensive midfielder as Song when they play together. Arteta sits deeper than Song most of the time so it is obviously not his fault / responsibility.

I would love to see him play with the mindset of an attacking player.

Although, at the same time, is he better than Rosicky in this role? The reason Song can pull off the passes he does, usually he is watching the game from further back, and has more time to spot the passes. Rosicky has been fantastic lately, if we could see Song play in that role, and see how he can create attacks with less time and space we'd be able to see what he can do there. There is no doubt he has sexy passing ability, holds the ball quite well and dribbles well too. Just might not have the velocity of thought that Rosicky does (and Ramsey's couldn't even be called "velocity", too positively connotated)

Has anyone thought of what could happen to Coquelin's and Frimpong's careers should we sign M'Vila?

I think Coquelin has crazy potential, and I'd hate to see it wasted.

Coquelin makes one hell of a right back, defensively strong (and can get better), quick, can get past a man, and can pass the ball

Yeah, he's one hell of a player. It would be such a shame if he never progressed here.

I fear that Coquelin will end up like Lassana Diarra. Lots of potential but no patience.

He won't go anywhere yet. If he thinks he deserves 1st team football with Arsenal.. he needs to think again.

Still good and hope he keeps growing. Wenger will treat the lad right.

The goals we've conceded on the counter have come from Arteta not playing, when Song goes forward it's Arteta's job to sit back and he does it wonderfully. But it's been Rasmey and Song recently and Ramsey aint good defensively. Yes M'Vila will sit and not go forward, but losing our most improved player over the last 3 seasons or so? I agree with this totally. Song relies too much on other players to cover him. With Arteta and Wilshere alongside him he's alright, they contribute a fair bit defensively and take some pressure of Song.

With Ramsey playing everything funnels through Song and he can't cope defensively. Ramsey just can't play that role, don't know why its taking Wenger soo long to realize that.

I haven't watched him either, but it can't be easy to get hyped up playing in France unless you got it going on, as there are only a certain amount of fucks given about that league

Well he has garnered a decent price tag for himself, doesn't just happen (unless you are young and English). We will have to wait and see

I'm going to be so upset when this deal doesn't come off.
Song won't leave either, he doesn't have much reason to and I don't know why people make out like Inter are some powerhouse in attracting players despite the shit we are in Inter have it much worse.

Something tells me the managers in Italy wouldn't like Song very much due to his wandering lol, but if he didn't wander it would at the same time be a waste of his talent

Also for Coquelin, he is a squad player at the moment, let's not forget that he is young, and even though this is Arsenal, the players in our midfield are mostly experienced older players at the moment (The ideal Song/Arteta/Rosicky combination I am referring to)

If Le Coq gets impatient it will be a shame but it will not be warranted

Coquilen is so good on the ball, quick, good control, decent passer, but I can't see him playing the holding role just yet, doesn't have that aggression.

"Man" seems to be more focused on his 'music' career and getting "da cling cling" than his football.

I dont want the Ajax defender. And it doesnt seem like we are getting him. So all good.

He wants to be obvious 1st choice..and he wont be here.
