James wrote:Lol that mustang guy is a moron. He actually said a world cup shouldn't be hosted somewhere because you cannot drink alcohol there? You do realise alcohol free World Cups would stop most of the violence that happens during them? Not only that, but it would most likely stop them sleeping around so much without taking necessary precautions. This summer so many people are gonna shit diseases from Eastern European lady boys all because they drink irresponsibly.
Also, why would anyone want the World Cup in America anyway? It was there in 1994, and it was shit from what I've heard. There are plenty of other footballing countries that deserve it before America.
I think it could be very beneficial to the sport to have it in America again if the MLS keeps growing. The league has really come a long way by our standards. We're almost to each club having a proper grounds and and facilities.
I just want to see the sport grow here, and the WC could really play a major role in that if there is already interest beforehand. Gonna be hard though when most players enter the MLS after college (22-24yrs), and when they basically neglect the fuck out of technique over here. People think 'soccer' is boring or whatever, well it is if you're watching club footed guys go at it. It's another thing to watch a top flight club playing beautifully. If we can get some proper football going over here then the WC would be very useful.

Well, if youre going to talk about the World Cup growing a countries leagues stature, then surely only Australia could get it. We've come extremely far in the past 7 years with the inception of the A-League. Sure, crowds are not the best at the moment, but a world cup could really kick start the league. We've attracted people such as Harry Kewell, Brett Emerton, Dwight Yorke, Francis Jeffers, Robbie Fowler, just to name a few.
And the main advantage to having the WC in Australia would be to popularize the sport within Australia. A normal A-League match will attract at most 17k crowds. Whilst the AFL gets 50k+. Same with the finals, A-League gets 60k and the AFL gets around 90k.
I honestly would like to see the world cup in Australia, but it wont happen with the shit heap called the FFA running the competition. Theyve made a mockery of the sport so far, and our bid for the 2022 WC was woeful. Our video was a fucking Kanagaroo stealing the world cup trophy, and the other countries showed their plans to build stadiums, transport, villages etc.
