He's not a 'proper' defensive midfielder or anything like Lucas, Mascherano, Makelele or the others you mentioned.. which you just said was vital.

But he covers the back 4. We need someone who will cover the back 4 and not get too far out of position. Song doesn't do that.

Eboué
The perfect squad player
Does anyone know how long Sagna will be out for? If he misses some months of next season I'd buy another right back and send Jenks out on loan, which RB would be a realistic target?

That's why he has replaced Gervinho in my sig. Both shit players but at least Eboue had personality. I'd swap the 2 of them right now.

He's someone who doesn't vacate his position though like Song does, how you can contest that it isn't a vital position I do not know.Chris wrote:He's not a 'proper' defensive midfielder or anything like Lucas, Mascherano, Makelele or the others you mentioned.. which you just said was vital.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
I didn't say defensive midfield is not a vital position but a player like Lucas to play there is not vital, my example being Michael Carrick.

Having somebody who sits and protects the back four is vital.. which is what the job of a defensive midfielder is.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
Thats not what you said before..
Proper is now being turned from Lucas, Mascherano, Makelele to man who doesnt vacate his defensive midfield position.Theo Filippo wrote:I more or less explained on the last page why having a proper defensive midfielder is vital.

But Carrick is not a proper defensive midfielder, he's more a deep lying playmaker.

Eboue is best shit player we have had but tbf he would've been very handy this season with all our injuries.

He protects the back four while Song doesn't (Not enough anyway).. I don't even know why you are using Carrick when United haven't won anything this season better examples from recent years would be Busquets, Gattuso, Senna, Makelele, Van Bommel, Cambiasso etc.. you can probably find an exception to the rule. You've literally blown up my head with some of these pointless questions and examples.Chris wrote:But Carrick is not a proper defensive midfielder, he's more a deep lying playmaker.

Now I'm slightly confused. Some pictures on the internet have blue stripes and some have black.
