Fuck Lucas.
He just looks good because he's always busy, but he's busy doing nothing.

Typical bad luck that as soon as you sell Clichy he has probably his best season

I just hope that Norwich result isn't the final straw for van Persie. I hope he can remember how good it felt to score the potential winner
I can't imagine Arsenal without him.

Which Lucas are we talking about, the good one from Sao Paulo or the one from Liverpool?

I suppose he's in a better back 4 now, but even individual things like positioning and concentration he's really improved

It's because he's been training in defense in Man City. He even mentioned after he left Arsenal that they never really worked on defense over here.. and he's excited to improve.

Wenger better be working his ass off with the coaches so he can get the players to end the season with a bang, rather that a whimper.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
Because he's playing under a manager that has built a much more solid defensive unit, got stronger players in front of him as well, when you're playing with Kompany he keeps the defense organised better too.Gatsby wrote:kyro7 wrote:Is it luck though?Gatsby wrote:Typical bad luck that as soon as you sell Clichy he has probably his best season

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
The stats are there he's one of the best tackling midfielders in the league and he keeps the ball very well, what you said doesn't make much sense.Chris wrote:Theo why did you reply with 'Right..'

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
Clichy's looking better because he has Gareth Barry always protecting him and he also doesn't need to do as much with City in terms of positioning. Our high defensive line means that we need an intelligent left-back who can time his runs well. Clichy's not capable of playing an offside trap (Gibbs isn't either but he's never in his own half so he doesn't provide any threat to our offside trap). In terms of instinctive defending (tackling, interceptions etc), he's always been pretty good so that hasn't changed.

He wouldn't be satisfied with being on the bench most of the time. I actually don't think strengthening that position is particularly urgent at the moment. We'll survive with Arteta there and Coqueling covering for him. Wenger just needs to start Coquelin when Arteta's out instead of Ramsey who doesn't contribute anything from a defensive perspective.

I think it's clear we need a defensive midfielder, we burnout at the end of every season because we play near enough the same 11 throughout the entire season until they burnout or get injured we need to rotate.BladeGunner wrote:Theo Filippo wrote:That doesn't really matter does it?

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
Theo why would we want a player who is only useful off the ball and adds absolutely nothing on it when we are a possession team? We have Song who sets up alot of goals playing in that position and Arteta drops very deep keeping the play ticking. Unless you want him for backup it would be a negative addition.

Eboue, Arshavin, Clichy and Nasri all winning a league title (assuming City do win).

Because we need to win the ball back and we don't do it well enough? I suppose players like Makelele, Van Bommel and Mascherano are pointless.Chris wrote:Theo why would we want a player who is only useful off the ball and adds absolutely nothing on it when we are a possession team? It certainly wouldn't hurt to have a player like him. I do rate him quite highly so I think he would only improve the quality of the squad. Not sure how likely it is Liverpool would sell and whether or not he'd be willing to leave. It wouldn't be the first time Wenger's tried to go for Liverpool's better players so maybe it's not entirely ridiculous.

Lets replace one of our best midfielders Song or Arteta with Lucas. Right..

We do need a proper DM lets be honest, but other than that I agree about Lucas. This guy is one of the least aesthetically pleasing players in the premiership, I'd rather eat shit then watch Lucas.
No exaggeration
