Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
What would you guys realistically want more next season in terms of league position?

Challenging for the title, with Podolski and hopefully Wilshere it'll be possible, granted Van Persie stays and we get a good left back.Kuled wrote:What would you guys realistically want more next season in terms of league position?
Edit: I can't really see us investing in another left back though, Wenger won't just sell Gibbs and Santos only just arrived, a good realistic left back target would be Celtic's Izaguirre although he's been injured a few times I think.

If VP plays like he did this season and he stays fit with podolski then a title challenge should be on the cards.
but tbh depends on what happens with man utd and man city first.

I don't think any other Club will be challenging for the title any time soon. It'll be City vs United for another 2-3 years imo.
Signing Podolski won't suddenly make you potential title challengers, that's jumping the gun a bit, surely? You almost sound like Liverpool fans there.

Since August 31st, we've only collected 10 points less than City. That was 5 a few weeks ago.

It's 10 points btw, I just edited my post.
Yes, City will improve with Van Persie up top and whoever else they sign. But if we buy well we can at least challenge even if it is unsuccessfully.

I really doubt Van Persie is going to go to City.
If he did though .. Tevez, Aguero, Van Persie.

FA Cup Final that day to take the attention away from us. We should win too.

Ahh that's good then , but it's still a bit weird that we're the only Premier League fixture that day.

Didn't say just Poldi would make us challengers but he'll get us goals and assists from the left wing, something Gervinho seems unable to do. I also based it off Robin staying and Wilshere returning to fitness and playing like last season,ScottyBoy_1989 wrote:

Our midfield will consist of three out of Wilshere, Arteta, Song, Ramsey and Rosicky and maybe a new signing, that's great depht and on paper it's better than United's given they don't sign anyone special and probably City's as well, might be debatable though.
Defence will be really solid too if everyone stays fit, especially if we signed a new left back too as I said.
On paper that'll be title challenging material I'd say.

If we had started the season stronger and not dropped some silly points here and there, we would've been title challengers this season
Alas, any of the big teams can say this, and that is football.
It's not silly to consider ourselves title challengers next season, but yeah it's hard to look past City and United, and yes, City will only improve

How the fuck are City going to get strong, where on Earth can they improve?
They can replace world class talent with other world class talent but that's not progress. If anything that will make the squad worse, changing everything around.

Signing RVP
Signing a new CB like Hummels ?
Signing a LB like Baines
I'm guessing they will make a few big signings like that.

They need more CBs and a few more players during cup matches. Other than that, i agree. They're solid.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
The more they buy the worse they get.
They need to get the right balance and chemistry going, buying more CBs to replace current starters will just upset everything, new CB comes in, doesn't play so well from the beginning while he adapts to a new league, gets dropped, former starting CB comes it and is expected to play well, lacks match sharpness so doesn't play well, gets dropped.
Rinse and repeat, the story of Manchester City.

Celtic's new away kit.
I'm sure Arsenal will have the same type of design, especially with those 3 strips, I love the cut of the shirt and the elastic 3 strips make the sleeves look sexy.
But according to those 'leaked pictures' the three strips will be red, white and navy. WHY?

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
City could need depth in midfield tbh, Yaya's great but Barry's starting for them, has been good this and last season but if they replaced him with M'Vila they'd definitly improve there.

I don't think it is debatable. City have the best midfield in the league by quite a long stretch.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
If you still had Fabregas and Nasri, it would be a close debate.
But at the moment, City have Yaya Toure, Silva and Nasri, coupled with the very consistent, underrated Gareth Barry.
I actually think a signing like Lucas or Song (to replace Barry) would complete their midfield.
