I want to know why Ledley 'rejected' them, probably the other way around Ledley went for talk then Roma pulled the plug.

Sean Murray had interest from Man City. He turned them down and stayed at Watford.

Lol, you have nothing to hold against me so you resort to bullshit like that? Where did I say Celtic are better than Roma? Roma would most likely rape Celtic. You know that everything I've said is true, or otherwise tell me what isn't.

Roma had Pizarro, De Rossi, Menez, Taddei, Perrotta and Brighi at the time, they then brought in Fabio Simplicio instead, average reserve player.. can see why he would of rejected them.

What? Are you saying Ledley would have been an average reserve player at Roma?

People saying Ronaldo is better than Messi and the SPL is better than the EPL. This forum is at critical mass today.

Ledley probably rejected them because he didn't want to move to Italy, not because they wanted him to be a reserve player. I reckon he's as good as the likes of Brighi, Simplicio, Perrotta and Taddei. It was just a throwaway comment anyway. All I'm saying is that Roma tried to sign him, which to me shows that he was one of the stand-out championship players as opposed to what Lux has been saying about him.

Meh.
The SPL is shit, but it's our shit. (lol).
I think it's just nice to see a Scottish player who used to play in the the SPL do well in one of the best leagues in the world, against the best team in Britain.

No, I understand your view, I'm just making more of a general point regarding your condescending attitude towards the championship.ConorCelticFC wrote:MickStupp wrote:
Just because they're offered contracts doesn't mean they're premier league quality, there are plenty of players that have totally disappointed, sometimes it's more down to circumstance than ability but you can't say someone is good enough to play in a certain league until they consistently play at that level.
Both Norwich and Wigan believe in their managers and there aren't any big egos playing for either club. They're not embarrassing themselves because the players are honest, they work hard and a few of them are actually good players. In Norwich's case they've done fantastic, just like quite a few teams that had just been promoted - and that's certainly not coincidence. I think if Wigan had a goalscorer like Grant Holt they'd be in a much better position.
You take the word "reject" at face value, as if the player wasn't good enough for your team. Things might not work out for a player at a certain club but they can still go on to improve and on to better and bigger things (Charlie Adam for example). It's no surprise that a player gets better once they're faced with tougher challenges. Plus, I'm sure there are many players who play in the championship (or at that level), get a move to the premier league and then wouldn't even think of going to Celtic.
The fact that Roma wanted him pretty much makes him too good for the Championship. I only use evidence like that because my own opinion from having seen him play is subjective. But surely if you've watched Ledley you can see he's comfortably premiership quality?
Of the players that went on loan to the Championship, they were all undisputable rejects. Hooiveld, Murphy, Thompson and O'Dea were all given ample opportunity and proved themselves not good enough, so I can't see your problem with my point.
Over the years there have been so many players that we didn't want shipped off to the Champonship, from Wallace to Pearson, but I can't ever remember us taking an out-of-favour Championship player.
And I must admit I don't watch either of the Old Firm play very often due to work commitments but from what I've seen of Ledley I can't say that he's premier league quality. But I'm aware that my opinion holds little value here and want to refrain from making black-and-white remarks out of ignorance.

Stupid. Celtic are the best team in their league and Wigan are one of the worst in the EPL. So of course he has more of a chance to start for Wigan.

Not wanted by Celtic and goes to any club in the Championship is supposed to actually mean something? . Unless you're trying to prove a point that Celtic are not League 1 standard then your example doesn't make any sense. I'm sure lots of players in the SPL would rather go to the Championship then stay at their team.....and I doubt that too many of the West Ham team would want to go to Celtic.
End of the day, Roma "wanting" Ledley hasn't been proven at all, and even if he went that doesn't mean he's any good or that he'll play games...it just means Roma bought him. Man Utd bought Bebe...wow he is a God amongst men now!.
But yup...the proof is that Ledley was in the Championship, and was not too good for the league. He was in the shadow of Whittingham, a player still at Cardiff (which I find strange tbh...but still). Ledley was good at the time....but something has gone very wrong in your mind Master Conor.
Hard to emphasise when you're English...but I am a Watford fan so do know the feeling a little.
I like Maloney, and I think Wigan play some decent football.
Has Maloney been injured or something?...not played much this season.

Maybe you shouldn't have admitted a few months ago that you hadn't seen Forrest play before you decided to bluff even having a semblance of knowledge on him.

Out of favour because Forest had the best defence in the league at that time
Morgan and that Chambers guy were quality for them when we were in the Championship, Wilson couldnt even get a look in. Played about 5 games before the January (out of a possible 19 or so games) then he signed a pre contract
