Actually quite a large amount of us thought Jelavic would be a good signing.. Most just kept saying he wasn't to piss Jela off.

That's because Celtic are a top SPL team whereas Scunthorpe were a relegation-battling Championship team. Obviously he was going to score more for us.

So Wigan have better players than Celtic now? Fuck off.

I know Hooper would score more for you that's why I'm using shit examples.. You're all saying Maloney is Wigan's best player and that shows the PL isn't the best league in the world when really the PL is one of the best league's in the world. And Wigan having better players is arguable. alee2

Nope, I haven't. The likes of Forster, Ledley, Stokes, Hooper, Samaras, Brown, Mulgrew, Commons, Ki and others are all new to me..

Majority of them are bottom half PL players at best.. Like Wigan.

Mate, listing a load of Celtic players you've found on wiki/BBC doesn't mean you have an informed opinion on them. Don't know why you've missed out possibly our four best players Kayal, Izaguirre, Hooper and Forrest.

They're players I have watched actually.. Izaguirre has been injured most of the season (I think), Hooper was edited in to my post and I haven't got informed opinions on Kayal and Forrest.

Many of the players who are doing well for Celtic were good at Championship level...but certainly not the best and not good enough for the Premier League.

I think Hooper probably is good enough for the Premier League..he looked quality at Scunthorpe, thought it was a shame he moved to Celtic...thee's not really a path for him to improve from there....where as players like Holt are scoring in the Premier League and he's already being suggested as an England option.

But players like Commons and Ledley...they were Championship quality players, no more.

You get a few players from the SPL, 90% of the time they are foreign, who could do well in the Premier League. It's just that they have come from obscure players in Europe...and Celtic isn't a bad move for them...but they have the potential to do better. But a lot of the British/Irish players are there because they are either not good enough or there just isn't the interest in them from Premier League teams.....or maybe they are just young, stay at Celtic/Rangers as it's a big club/their boyhood team etc...but eventually they'll move on to the Premier League if they're good enough. It's fair enough to say that not all good talent gets picked up at an early age.

@Lux, agree about Commons, but Ledley is a cracking player, easily able to play in the Premier League.

I dunno....at Cardiff he was one of their best players that is for sure...but he didn't stand out above everyone else.

For a lower club he would definitely be good enough for the squad. He looks older than he actually is, he left Cardiff at about 23?...So he could have improved a fair amount since then.

Looking at Norwich's signings and success...you can see that players can make the step up. I wouldn't have said that Ledley was worse than the likes of most of their team before they went up....so maybe.

I do think that some Old Firm players are good enough. But making the comparisons is hard, all things considered.

Ledley was offered a contract by Stoke and apparently Roma were interested too. Definitely good enough for the premiership, although I think all the players in our starting XI are. What does 'able to play in the premiership' actually mean? Pretty much every player in Norwich's and Wigan's team is mediocre, yet they're not embarrassing themselves.

And the Championship. The fact that we've had four players on loan to Championship clubs this season seems to elude people like Lux. The Championship takes our rejects, we take its best players. That's how it works. Could you imagine Celtic taking a player on loan from a Champonship club? It just wouldn't happen. Ledley and Commons were two of the best players in the Championship as well. Commons, a midfielder, was top scorer in the division when we bought him last January.

Just because they're offered contracts doesn't mean they're premier league quality, there are plenty of players that have totally disappointed, sometimes it's more down to circumstance than ability but you can't say someone is good enough to play in a certain league until they consistently play at that level.

Both Norwich and Wigan believe in their managers and there aren't any big egos playing for either club. They're not embarrassing themselves because the players are honest, they work hard and a few of them are actually good players. In Norwich's case they've done fantastic, just like quite a few teams that had just been promoted - and that's certainly not coincidence. I think if Wigan had a goalscorer like Grant Holt they'd be in a much better position.

You take the word "reject" at face value, as if the player wasn't good enough for your team. Things might not work out for a player at a certain club but they can still go on to improve and on to better and bigger things (Charlie Adam for example). It's no surprise that a player gets better once they're faced with tougher challenges. Plus, I'm sure there are many players who play in the championship (or at that level), get a move to the premier league and then wouldn't even think of going to Celtic.

The fact that Roma wanted him pretty much makes him too good for the Championship. I only use evidence like that because my own opinion from having seen him play is subjective. But surely if you've watched Ledley you can see he's comfortably premiership quality?

Of the players that went on loan to the Championship, they were all undisputable rejects. Hooiveld, Murphy, Thompson and O'Dea were all given ample opportunity and proved themselves not good enough, so I can't see your problem with my point.

Over the years there have been so many players that we didn't want shipped off to the Champonship, from Wallace to Pearson, but I can't ever remember us taking an out-of-favour Championship player.

Common sense seems to elude Conor

Celtic is one team, the Championship is 24. Celtic can only play 11 players at a time, and have some in the squad. Obviously if you have a big squad, then you'll want to loan some out.

Those players going to the Championship doesn't mean that Celtic is above the Championship.

Quite often teams loan out players to those in the same division.
