Jan Vertonghen to Arsenal./?

Re: Jan Vertonghen to Arsenal./?
If he's smart he'd choose us, Newcastle aren't going to be in the Champions League next year whereas Ajax already are. He's got mates from the Dutch league over here along with Thomas. He'll be joining us very soon, so that's 2 good signings before the season's over which is good as we'll get these players settled in early. Just a injury free decent left back and possibly a defensive midfielder, then we're good to go.

Spurs are a shit choice.. Newcastle are more likely to get him than Spurs.
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew to consider signing Ajax's Jan Vertonghen after going Dutch
Alan Pardew travelled to Holland over the weekend to have another look at
Ajax’s in-demand centre-back Jan Vertonghen in case Newcastle United qualify
for the Champions League.
If the source is unknown then you just made it up, clearly you got it from somewhere.

We just need a left back to be honest.
How good is Vertonghen as a CDM?

He's pretty good as a DM.
Only sources reporting this right now are the reliable ITK's on twitter. And when it comes to ITK's it doesn't matter how reliable they are because that's all they are. Wait for official shit.
I've just woke up so I have no idea if what I just posted makes any sense.

Silly cunt.
Wenger seems adamant on keeping van Persie, trying to persuade him with all these players.

Re: Jan Vertonghen to Arsenal./?
Vertonghen himself has ultimately confirmed that the match yesterday was his last home game for Ajax.
The captain of the team got to lift the trophy and today was named Ajax player of the year. I don't think that will bump his price alone but also i don't think he will agree to a contract just yet, Frank De Boer (jokingly?) said that he'd like to see him in Barcelona, and i know that Mancini was looking at him as well, no doubt with recommendations from his own captain Kompany. So while i think Vertonghen has a spot for Arsenal somewhere i doubt its a done deal yet.

Tottenham are said to be leading the race for Vertonghen. I think he'd be better suited to Newcastle though.

If he goes Newcastle, he'll use it as a stepping stone for City or Real Madrid. Tbh joining us is a stepping stone for him as well unless we win the league in the next 2 years.

Re: Jan Vertonghen to Arsenal./?
Could join us if we get champions league. Could do with a quality CB with King, Gallas and Neilsen on the way out leaving just Dawson and Kaboul. Bassong will be gone, as will Khumalo. Caulker will probably step up but that's still only 3. Plus, him and Kaboul next year =

Re: Jan Vertonghen to Arsenal./?
He's not even guaranteed to be the best CB in the league, let alone desired for Madrid, Barcelona and for fucking city. He's a talented CB who is underrated, no doubt about it but there is a lot better for a lot more money. Which brings us back the point of him being desired because he's very good for his price, not because he's world class (which he is not).
Treating him like a Hazard/Cavani category is worthy of being shot

He's whoring himself out to us, I'm sure the deal is already done, if it's going to happen it already has.

If I were him, I'd join Newcastle without a second thought. They are undoubtedly a team on the rise, and they can score goals. They could definitely use a good CB, and he would get serious playing time.
Why warm the Arsenal bench, watching your best years slip-by. All I know, is Kos, Vermaelen and Vertonghen all won't settle for a place on the bench and the most likely pairing are Kos and Vermaelen together.
With Newcastle, not only will he have an assured starting XI spot, but he can pretty much be assured of Champion's League football, if not this year, then the next.

Re: Jan Vertonghen to Arsenal./?
To be honest, Vortonghen would play left back for us whenever he is available. Also if we lose Song or don't actually sign M'vila he could have a starting spot at DM too. Mertesacker/Vermaelen/Koscielny and Vortonghen would all rotate too you would assume. They were all over-played this season because of the lack of reliable centrebacks.The_Quilo wrote:If I were him, I'd join Newcastle without a second thought.
