The lyric isn't referring to the colour of the cup, but the colour of the sky at the end of a storm.

inb4 you dig out the true colour of the sky after a storm.

Right, so scraping the Carling Cup on penalties represents the golden sky at the end of a storm?

Alright, fair enough, I remember a time when Liverpool fans had higher standards than that. I was told for years between 2006 and 2010 that the Carling Cup was a mere pint glass, a trophy that was not worth winning.

Our! And yes, you did, well done, I was very much hoping we'd get one last season until Wolverhampton ended that little dream. In any case, I can't see that happening to Liverpool any time soon.

Woke up at 4am and watched the end of Arsenal vs Spurs. Waited until 5am for the start, we go 1-0 down and at Half Time I text NZG Razz

then we equalise, I text NZG again. Then we score in ET and I get happy, then Cardiff score and I get nervous. By this time it is 7:30am. Then Gerrard and Adam both fail to score and I start to get really nervous and sad. Then Gerrard has a chance to put it to Sudden Death and misses. I jump for joy and in the process of doing the biggest jump of my life I smack my head on the ceiling and have a sore head. Then my father tells me to go to school. Neutral

At school I am tired and almost fall asleep and walk into 2 doors. I was a fucking zombie, but a happy zombie!

also Yay we won!!!! Very Happy I had to leave as soon as we won so I didn't get a chance to get into it Cry

This game highlighted all the problems we've been having this season...

Some bad team selections from Kenny. Henderson at RM, Gerrard + Adam in a 4-4-2, Gerrard playing extremely deep, no Bellamy Fuck you

Skrtel was MOTM not worthy Kuyt's energy not worthy

Personally I think Spearing should start every game with Lucas out and we should play 4-3-3.

Gerrard was very poor, shots were terrible.

I kinda feel like we have let kuyt down.

    Moves for trophies.

takes 5 years to win one.

I've always thought it was on par with the FA cup in terms of teams involved, just felt cheaper and less important somehow.
Being just 'in' the champions league without having any meaningful chance of success like Arsenal this season is worse though, in my opinion.

That being said, they *should* have a better side with the continued allure of champions league.

I suppose it depends on the situation. If we hadn't won, but gained a CL place, I would be happier, but only if we then went on to win a trophy next season. In the end, football is all about winning trophies. It's not like we strolled though the rounds to meet a side that rolled over and died in the final.

Your opinion is wrong. Qualifying for the Champions League is more beneficial in every sense than winning the Carling Cup.

Champions League equals a 15M increase in revenue for simply qualifying, 20M+ for the final 16 and 40M+ if you win the tournament.

Clearly important for a club finances.
