Loving some of the responses here.
Undeserved? How many chances did United have again?
Parking the bus? Nah, you're right, we'll just attack carelessly without a defensive midfielder.

Completely dominated the game, lost because of an unfair goal and a mistake from the goalkeeper. That's the sort of shit that happens in Cup games. That leukaemia referee should be banned, he's clearly only getting games because the PGMO feel sorry for him.

Well done Liverpool though. I reckon they will win the FA Cup and the Carling cup now. Finally realised how to play Carroll too. Compeltely destroyed us in the latter part of the second half... Congrats.....
Well said And i agree United were the better team and deserved at least a replay.

Can't believe everyone is ignoring the fact that Maxi should have been off Had a United player gotten away with it and went on to win you wouldn't hear the end of it

Meh. It wasn't a dangerous foul and it kept the game running nicely. Ref did right there IMO. We only have ourseleves and our rubbishness without scholes and lack of quality in the final third to blame for not winning this.

You should never blame the referee to compensate for what your team lacks.LiamB_14 wrote:Can't believe everyone is ignoring the fact that Maxi should have been off Had a United player gotten away with it and went on to win you wouldn't hear the end of it

Yeah i forgot about that challenge from Maxi, still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the two-footed tackle rule i think.

I thought Maxi would have been sent off.
Relieved to see him subbed quickly after.

BBC Statistics ..
Possession: Liverpool 43% - 57% Man United
Shots on Target: Liverpool 9 - 3 Man United
Off Target: Liverpool 5 - 6 Man United
Corners: Liverpool 5 - 1 Man United
Yeah, erm .. I don't think so.

They are consistently inconsistent on the matter. This referee was probably the most lenient referee I have ever seen, and he was excellent.Barton wrote:Yeah i forgot about that challenge from Maxi, still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the two-footed tackle rule i think.

We had the ball more in the second half and were the better team.

There is no two footed tackle rule, and Scott, I don't know about you but I actually watched the game, rather than manipulating statistics.

I demand that RR apologises for his outrageously horrendous comment about the referee's illness.

It's the truth, he was one of the strictest referees in the Premier League before his illness, since he returned a season and a half ago he's given a grand total of one red card. I'm not saying I wish he had died of it or anything, I don't really care about that, but he shouldn't be refereeing top level fixtures.

What a pointless, classless, and disgusting insult to throw about.

Re: Liverpool vs Man United | FA Cup
Liverpool's goals came from a hoofed goal kick and a hoofed corner kick. If that is what they class to prove they "dominated the game" then you have to pity them.
Clearly they must learn the findamentals of football, what requires a great deal of skill, and what doesn't. because you could cleary see a significant gulf in class between the quality of both teams. United's play was vastly superior.

Scoring more than your opponent results in victory?

Maybe that's the way to go about things, but correct me if i'm wrong, the rules state that all two-footed tackles should warrant a red card? If that's the case then Maxi should've been sent off, end of story.

Re: Liverpool vs Man United | FA Cup
It's pertinent. How can the World Cup Final referee be stood on the sidelines while someone who has only been appointed because he had a disease referees the game? How?InGlennyWeTrust wrote:"That leukaemia referee."ResurrectionRooney wrote:

It was the correct decision, you can't send off somebody for that.Kompany's sending off was wrong, Glen Johnson performed a similar challenge against Manchester City and was not sent off and now Maxi does it against Manchester United and is not sent off.Happy to see the referees get some sense in their decision making from time to time.

That's not the fucking rules, honestly they're not hard to come by, just Google for 'Laws of the Game', you can read them in less than an hour.

Re: Liverpool vs Man United | FA Cup
Whut. The referee was good. One of the best these fixtures have had in recent years. Could have decided the game in our favour by sending off maxi for a bit of a reckless tackle, but not giving him a red is completely justified. Saved the game.
