It's not, it makes for dreadful football. Makes you extremely difficult to break down and gives you a lot less in attack and midfield. It's inherently more defensive that a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 because you have 3 dedicated defensive players at absolute minimum, whereas in the other two formations the minimum is 2, with the Fullbacks and midfielders moving forward.
