Shocking that he can't get into the Spanish team. He'd fit the bill perfectly.

3 Class centre backs, well in some people's eyes before i get told otherwise. But Carragher wont last forever and well Coates is still young and well 7 million is not a bad price.

Arsenal and United aren't really rivals. I certainly harbour no resentment towards Mikael Silvestre for signing for them.
I'd be disappointed, because when Beckham was in his prime, Arsenal were our title rivals, and it'd be strengthening them significantly, to our detriment. If we were nowhere near winning the title, and Arsenal were up there fighting for it, or vice versa, I wouldn't really have a problem with it. I'd be very disappointed, sure, losing a great player, but I wouldn't blame him.
Further, with Liverpool demanding £50m, they priced him out of a move anywhere else bar Barcelona, who wouldn't want him, Manchester City, who are Mancs and were direct rivals of Liverpool as far as the League was concerned, and Real Madrid, who he obviously would never sign for. If the choice was to stay at a club who are languishing in mid-table, having finished 7th the season before and can only win the Europa League in the current season, with little prospect of improvement, or to sign for the Champions of England, who are still fighting for three prestigious trophies, I don't see how anyone can blame him for doing what he did.
You can argue about KKKenny's project and the plan to rebuild Liverpool into a bastion of indefatigability, but in all reality, it's been clear since 2010 that Torres is approaching the end of his time as a top class footballer. In order to have a chance of winning the League with King Kenneth, even by the most optimistic estimates, he'd have had to stay for at least 2 or 3 more seasons, and by then he'd be 30, and it's a pretty long shot anyway, given that there were 5 other clubs better positioned to win the League (including, by the way, a Chelsea side who would have spent £50m on someone else, someone like Aguero).
Moving to Chelsea was his last chance of winning major silverware at club level, it was a chance that anyone unbiased would have jumped at in his situation, regardless of a little rivalry with Chelsea stemming from a few close matches between the sides when they were close to each other in ability.
Then again maybe, I'm wrong, so I'll ask again
Who should he have moved to?

Said it at the start of the season. Said he wants one, but if it doesn't happen, he'll just focus on the club.

By the way, in light of the Cahill rumours, it seems to me that Danny Wilson has become a forgotten man. No-one mentioned him.

He's wilted under the pressure everytime he's played for us, although I'm sure being a fully fledged member of the also-rans didn't help.

Wilson?
Mainly because he was playing left back.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Wilson should have stayed at Rangers and got more game time, He looked really good at Rangers and very composed on the ball in the hustle and bustle of the SPL But he has only played 26 games for Rangers and well he never came up against top quality forward players every week and he has still has a lot to learn.

Maybe we should play Wilson at CB and not at Left back.
Looking forward to playing some of the youngsters against Oldham, if we do.
