Really hope we get a break with Lucas. I'd even take a 3 month injury right now, compared to the rest of the season without him. Fingers crossed.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Hope Lucas is ok, it'd be a crying shame if he got an injury like this after how he's been playing in the last few games and if it is the cruiate what he's done, that can be very difficult to come back from, if it's ruptured, then god help the lad.
9 months would be a massive massive blow.
Will Kenny dive into the transfer window though? That's the question. I wouldn't really use Shelvey coming back as a marker for that. I was under the impression Jonjo was coming back anyway, regardless of the Lucas situation.

9 months...rumours seem to be gradually getting worse. Just want the club to get the results over with, spare us the sense of dread.

6 months and 8 and a half months is the same as far as you're concerned.

They'll probably bid £20m+ for that Ross Barkley, he's English and he's made a couple of good passes for Everton.

Even players like Lass and Keita are a stretch.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
A stretch?? Apart from the fact Dalglish would never sign a player like that, for obvious reasons, why would Lass or Keita ever even think about joining that shower?
Any player would much rather make 50+ appearances for Barcelona alongside Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Busquets, Messi etc., and fight for Doubles, Trebles, World Championships, or make about 40 for Real Madrid alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Ozil, Benzema, di Maria, Alonso etc. and fight for the same thing, than join Liverpool to fight for a cup that doesn't even exist in most countries, and if they're very very successful, get a spot in the Europa League for next season.

Ok a stretch was being polite
I genuinely can't think of anyone good Liverpool could get in January maybe Anatoliy Oleksandrovych Tymoshchuk on a 6 month loan

Are you debating with yourself now? Impressive.
On that topic, well yeah those teams are much better and youre stating the obvious. Having said that, if a player like Keita wants to get some regular playing time, he will get that here but not going ot get many starts at Barca. This might be his last chance to get something like that as isn't he 31?

Shame, no point bitching and moaning about it and thinking or season is over though. We'll deal with it.

Absolutely devastated. For us, but but more importantly for him. Hope he returns without losing a step.
Still, the circumstances in which he got injured are rather frustrating.

See you on the other side of the season.
Now to see if we can get fourth without the epitome of consistency. Big ask, need at least someone not British in January.

More importantly, I've read that that an ACL injury can to be debilitating to his career. Thoughts? How harsh on him would it be if he is never the same again.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
ACL injuries even as recently as five years ago we're often career changing, for example in the NFL, but these days they are not as devestating. In fact, if it is an ACL injury, many times the athlete can come back stronger because they clean their knee out.
Who could we buy or loan in during January?

M'Villa would be my preference. We need a replacement, not a filler. This season is too important for the latter. Once Lucas comes back we'll be even stronger.

Liverpool FC said today a scan had confirmed an injury to the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in Lucas Leiva's left knee.
The Brazil international will undergo surgery and unfortunately be ruled out for the remainder of the current campaign.

Injury to Lucas likely to prompt #LFC to move for a holding midfielder in the Jan transfer window. They were looking anyway.

Talk of Liverpool buying Tiote to cover for Lucas? Let's face it Tiote is double the player Lucas will ever be, plus he's hard as nails
