A police investigation has been launched after deaf football fans complained they had lip-read Liverpool's Steve Finnan making a racist remark towards Patrice Evra of Manchester United.

Evra, however, was unaware of any racist taunts. The Senegal-born Frenchman, a £5.5m signing from Monaco in January, has not raised any complaints although he is aware of the allegations.

I am half Cypriot and if you said anything to me to do with it I wouldn't have a clue what you were talking about, also I've never heard of him being half Portugese, even if he is he has not grown up in that culture really.. and it's not even being about "black in Portugese is negro" why would Suarez have to refer to him being black, if I knew it meant black and someone called me negro when we were arguing of course you're going to think it's racist.. but the only thing I'm going by is:

Not the same as Portuguese at all.

His mother is Portuguese, I'm pretty sure he knows a bit of Portuguese like I know a bit of Spanish considering both languages derive from latin. I'm not going to lie, that's how black people are referred to, but he meant it in a derogatory way if that's what he said. You don't say call someone a Negro in a game who's pissing you off as a friendly gesture, he would have been out to hurt him
