    Thread necromancy time!

The Euro 2012 for handball has been going on for about a week now. Short story is, Croatia, Spain and Serbia are the favorites now. Serbia due to it being hosted in Serbia, Spain and Croatia are top 3 teams in the world. The number 1 team(Euro, World & Olympic champions) France managed to win 1 and lose 2 in the first round, causing them just like Denmark to pass on to the 2nd stage with 0 points. (3 teams from each group move on, points won against each other stays) Usually you need at least 7 points to secure a spot in the semi finals, which leaves France and Denmark with a problem seeing as they could only gain 6 points from 3 victories and will depend on other teams to drop points to make it through, and possibly also have some large margin victories.

As it looks now, Germany, Serbia, Croatia & Spain will head into the semi finals, as they are leading their groups respectively with 5 and 4 points each (Germany and Serbia had 4 to begin with but drew in the very last second tonight)

Why bring it up? Great Britan and United States are brining handball teams to the Olympics it London, as they are both automatically qualified due to it being hosted in London, and there is no other North American teams that are interested / know what the sport is (Also do Mexicans exist in handball player size? That is around 6"4+ and 200 pounds, slightly less for wing players).

I have no idea if they are also bringing womens teams, but that is not very interesting, the Norwegian womens team are too good, in Decembers world cup final they beat France by 32 to 24, they are currently Euro, World and Olympic Champions just like the French mens team.

A video from tonight may say a bit why close to1/4 of the population here is watching every game we(Denmark) play, (on average more than people watching the national football team) a game lasts 60 minutes, this clip is just the last 8 seconds, quite a lot of games are nerve wracking in this way, and surprisingly many have been very very close in this tournament, some that shouldn't even have been like when Sweden were leading against Poland 20-9 at half time and the match ended 29-29

And yet we came back and advanced to the semi finals with 6 points. We took down a Spanish team who were afraid to shoot at Landin in the semis, and won the final against the hosts.

What's strange is that I think we played better last year.

EDIT: Speaking of crap, those seedings for the olympics are plain ridiculous. Denmark seeded 9th? What the fucking hell? We won the European championships and finished second in the world championships. How can we not be seeded in top 2?
Great Britain is seeded better than us. That's just, no offence guys, plain ridiculous.

I apologize for the double post.

Mikkel Hansen has been named world player of the year by IHF.

@Muhkoo - Why would USA be automatically qualified. GB is for the reason you mention, but in handball, it's a pan-american handfall federation. Argentina is qualified, and Brazil is playing a qualification tournament. USA isn't to be found anywhere (and last time a northern american team qualified, it was Greenland (07). If we can't count them, it was Canada (05). I don't count Cuba (09) as north american. USA aren't in the qualification
