Midnight in Paris - a good movie, but I didn't really enjoy it that much.

Great film. Probably the most entertaining of the year, although it's pretty awful that it's being outperformed at the box office by Grown Ups 2. Really want a prequel/sequel.

Agreed that it has been the most entertaining film so far. I would have liked the Russian and Chinese pilots get more screen time and lines.
I'm not sure what a sequel would cover, but a prequel seems more possible. I'd rather they do an animated series than a movie covering the years prior to the movie. Maybe even a comic book series.

Not optimistic about this Batman/Superman movie at all. Definitely don't trust Goyer on his own.

Del Toro said it would likely play off from Newt (professor guy) drifting with the Kaiju brain .

Oblivion 8/10. Has some soul, and is one fantastic looking film. Some of the visuals literally take the breath away.

Can't wait to watch Pacific Rim......in five months. Not bothering with anything less than blu-ray.

    Only God Forgives.

The description sounded like it would be my perfect movie, so the fact that I hated it says a lot. It's like Drive, but even more self indulgent. No one says anything, the pace is incredibly slow, it's way too dark and the level of violence is just too much. For the first half hour I just felt really stressed out watching it. It was certainly a job to get all the way through.

Maybe if I watched it again and just tried to appreciate the visuals I might 'get it' but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Robin Hood and Court Jester - both great old movies

Talladega Nights - pretty good Will Ferrell stuff

    Malibu's Most Wanted - horrendous

Hotel Rwanda - really emotional and moving

Agreed, just saw the film today with the woman. It was a blast, definitely entertaining.

Seriously though, you see the Chinese use their 3 handed bot for a few seconds then BAM, completely raped and dead. Had potential.

    Also.. huge spoiler..

    PR:
Why didn't they use swords the entire fucking time. Totally annihilated shit every time it was out.

    Spoiler:
The only explanation I could think of is the Kaiju blood being acidic, and able to go through the jaeger's armor. Making the sword a dangerous, last resort kinda deal. Although, I may not be remembering that correctly. Also the scene with Mako as a little girl, and then Elba's character coming out of his Jaeger was fantastic.

I saw this last night, and I thought... well, maybe 'shit' is too strong a word, but it was deeply disappointing.

The characters were all numb and largely emotionless, almost robotic. The film was generally devoid of a storyline at all, and only having about 3 lines of dialogue in the whole film made watching it uncomfortable and drawn out. When there was dialogue, for instance when Crystal met Mai, the script was pretty terrible IMO.

Was going to see Pacific Rim, but it stopped playing yesterday in my local cinema. Neutral

Saw The Way, Way Back instead. Don't regret it at all. Good and funny movie. Sam Rockwell is brilliant in it.

I was completely lost throughout Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Is it better after a rewatch?

Elysium: Kruger, and the CGI/ special effects were the only bright spots in the film.

Oblivion - Enjoyed it. Some fantastic shots, great landscapes. Good soundtrack too. Not a huge amount of originality to it though, just seemed to take ideas from other films, there was a bit of Moon, 2001, Independence Day and Equilibrium in there that I picked up on.

The Hobbit - First 45 minutes or so were pretty tedious, but once they got going on the quest it got more engaging. Martin Freeman was good. Looking forward to the next one.

Iron Man 3 - Pretty good. There were a couple of things I was surprised/disappointed in, but it was a better film than Iron Man 2.

Hot fuzz was mildly funny in places but the other two films were pretty unfunny all the way through.
