    What details are currently available:

Announced for PC, 2014, nothing yet for console.

‘The captivating and non-linear story of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt takes place in a rich, truly open-world environment. A world which is thrilling to explore, full of daring adventures, momentous quests, memorable characters, and unique monsters,’ said Adam Badowski, head of the studio. ‘Players will freely travel through woods, lakes, mountains, cities and villages. Each region is inhabited by distinct populations with their own customs, legends and problems. The world of Witcher 3 is 30 times bigger than The Witcher 2.’

‘People may ask if this is really going to be the last Witcher game. Yes, it is. Why? Because we believe that we should end the series on a high note,’ added Badowski. ‘Technology has progressed to where we can finally tell the story the way we want, with the visuals we want, in the world we imagined. This will be the ultimate fantasy RPG experience, and while we’re hardly out of stories to tell, we believe it’s time for us to look to new worlds and new horizons to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can create.’

    Ubisoft take note.

CD Projekt said that the game will be available on PC and all high end consoles, so I'm guessing it will be available on the PS4 and next Xbox.

    Also:http://www.techspot.com/news/51560-the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-said-to-be-30-times-bigger-than-the-witcher-2.html

Much bigger scale than the previous game, and 20% bigger than Skyrim.

I actually was disappointed with the scale of the second game. Probably smaller than the first. When I realised that there were only a few acts and locations, I just wanted more. Because I was really into it. But 30 times bigger, that's inconceivable, even if up to half of that is relegated to player choices.

One thing that vexes me is what the default choices are that will be taken from Witcher 2. I made two decisions in that game I was very proud of...(big spoilers)
    Spoiler:
But that was on 360, so there's no way of taking that. Maybe I can import a ps3 save off someone else.

Being touted as a defining game of next-gen, as in by quality as well as looks. Might even surpass my expectations.

Also, Tywin Lannister is voicing the Emperor of Nilfgaard, great pick.

I'm thinking of getting this but I've never played the past games. Will I be lost story and lore wise if I get this game without playing the previous games.

Both games were super cheap on steam last weekend. In hindsight I should asked this question last week.

Ended up preordering. Looks like the only decent game that will be released in a while.

    Yes.

I know I should elaborate but this game is so good that I'm pretty confident in saying that if you enjoy rpg's even a little, and you're not struggling financially speaking, so much that you just can't drop $60 right now, then it is worth getting.

I accumulated 3 days of playing this game and I've not even reached level 20 yet, and there are level 32+ quests in my quest log that I need to do.

This is probably the best open world game i've ever played. Its ridiculous how good this game is.

    Why didn't you enjoy it?

There is diffinetly some things that could be improved on, like the super repetitive combat but I think most of the game's faults aren't deal breakers.

Didn't like the main character, storyline didn't really grab me, the combat isn't very good and whenever you die it takes about 5 minutes to reload and the upgrade system is far too complicated and takes much too long. Apart from a castle I got warped to I couldn't find anything other than fields, taverns or farmhouses. I also didn't like how you couldn't attack random people you bump into on the roads, its an RPG, I should be able to an arsehole.

If I sunk 40 hours into it I reckon I might start to enjoy it, but the main guy is too weak to do anything at the start of the game, even random side quests I was getting smashed up. I was expecting a game where you can do anything you want, as advertised, instead I got to shepherd a poor helpless man through a large but very boring world where everyone is stronger than him.

Those are some really fair points, and I actually agree with most of them. Still really enjoy the game though.
