Re: Mass effect 3
I was being sarcastic, by the way.
GAMES DEVELOPER Bioware has asked its players to go easy on its latest release, Mass Effect 3, and stop complaining so vehemently about its ending.
The games ending has caused a lot of controversy and players have complained that it is disappointing. We do not want to spoil it for anyone, but regular players are seeing it as an unsatisfying conclusion.
Bioware has always said that it is listening to the complaints, but now it has come out and asked for some calm. It said that it has listened, and offered the suggestion that a fix may come in the form of downloadable content.
"I personally believe Mass Effect 3 is the best work we've yet created. So, it's incredibly painful to receive feedback from our core fans that the game's endings were not up to their expectations. Our first instinct is to defend our work and point to the high ratings offered by critics - but out of respect to our fans, we need to accept the criticism and feedback with humility," said Bioware co-founder Ray Muzyka in a post on the Bioware blog today.
"The journey you undertake in Mass Effect provokes an intense range of highly personal emotions in the player; even so, the passionate reaction of some of our most loyal players to the current endings in Mass Effect 3 is something that has genuinely surprised us. This is an issue we care about deeply, and we will respond to it in a fair and timely way. We're already working hard to do that."
This hard work could culminate in a release next month, he added, and then fans might be made happy with additional closure on the game.
"Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey," added Muzkya.
"We're working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we've received. This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue."
One fan is so enraged with the ending of the game that he has officially complained to the Federal Trade Commission about it. An online campaign, backed by players that want a new ending has raised over £40,000 for charity.

Well that is gay, I can't get the Chakram Launcher and the Armor piece because The kingdom of amular is rated M and my account is still registered as a minor even though I've aged past 18 years ago. (can't upgrade account because requires parental permission and dad deleted email years ago, and Gamertag's live account can't be changed by anyone, not even microsoft, without the original email)

I don't get people who critcize the ending. Everything in the game builds up to it and it takes things from the two previous games and incorporates it into the end. Don't see what the fuzz is about, I liked it.

Re: Mass effect 3
About the ending:
- Spoiler:
- The
end choice, I've read a lot of thoughts about "renegade and paragon
choice". I do not get that. As I see it the final choice has nothing to
do with paragon or renegade, it has nothing to do with "right or wrong".
That choice is down to the core of the entire series. It was the choice
that would shape the future of the galaxy forever. It would be wrong to
put Renegade or Paragon tags on them because this choice is the end, it
is the choice that will shape the galaxy forver. There is no right or
wrong choice. All of the choices are "wrong" in some way. They all have
terrible consequences.
Either you chose to attempt to control the
reapers, thus letting the reapers continue to live and risk everything
to save a single cycle, or you chose to destroy the reapers for good, as
well as all the technology the races have come to rely on, and let
organic life prove the reapers wrong by giving the next cycle, a long
with the survivors of this cycle, the chance to prove just that. Or a
third choice which I haven't attempted as I didn't know there was a
third choice
The
theory about "indoctrination" is perhaps interesting, but a tad absurd
and highly unsatisfactory. It's in my opinion B-Movie writing at best. I
hear people laud the theory as some sort of genius, yet that theory is a
massive cop out which is nowhere near being "good". It would mean that
the reapers aren't really defeated, in fact we don't know what the hell
is going on, that the entire last 20 minutes of the game is completely
irrelevant and an excercise in futility which makes the developers look
like incompetent fools, that the glaxy as we know it is still doomed and
will be for the next cycle, and the next, and the next until such a
time when the reapers can be defeated (never, basically). It means that
everything we did in the past 30-40+ hours was completely and utterly
meaningless, that the Crucible is just a chunk of metal that doesn't
actually do anything (not an idea I'm totaly against btw), and it gives
no closure what so ever. It's a ridiculous way to end a story.
I'd
rather Sheppard died before the final push, leaving us completely in
the dark of the future of the galaxy, that the reapers defeated the
galactic forces despite their massive efforts because frankly they are
way stronger, that the crucible doesn't work at all and the reapers
simply destroy everyone, or that by destroying the reapers Sheppard also
has to destroy the entire solar system, than have an ending like that.
Seriously. I do not want a "happy ending", the game never built up to
that. It was always going to come down to Sheppard making the biggest
decision of his life. I do not want to see Garrus and Sheppard on a
beach sipping Mai Tais, I do not want an 80s slideshow of how everyone
lived happily ever after, I do not want the "hollywood ending", because
it does not make sense. The ending I saw showed the end of a cycle, the
end of an era, and the end of the galaxy as we know it, but with immense
potential. It ended the way it should have for me. With my character
making the ultimate sacrifice, making the most difficult choice of his
entire life, and watching hope return to the galaxy, giving the future a
chance without the risk of being destroyed by the reapers.
The entire concept of the series was about making choices, it is
fitting that the final choice does not reveal what is the "best" option,
but that you actually have to consider the consequences, consider the
possiblities of getting it wrong and making an actual choice that would
end
the series and your story without having your hand held through the
entire scene. Guess what, organic life is about to be extinct and the
choice you make will shape the future of every species in the galaxy.
Every choice you've made until now built up to this one moment, where
your choice would shape the galaxy forever. Paragon, Renegade, something
in between, it did not matter. It all helped you get to where you are
now, it shaped the story as you went a long and when it came down to it
you had to make a real choice as to how the story would end. No hand
holding, no guidance or obviouscop out routes. Make your choice, this is
the end of it all.

- Ending discussion:
- Before I began the last mission, I was expecting the suicide mission on drugs. I wanted to see the Krogan, Asari, Turians, Geth and Rachni all fighting side by side. To the see the rewards of my hours of investment into the series. Instead all you hear throughout the mission are humans struggling to hold the line against the reapers forces. I'm sorry but that's just not good enough.
And as for the star child, well don't get me started.

Should I start the game as Action, Role Playing, or Story?

Re: Mass effect 3
Depends how you want to play the game.
Action focuses on just the combat and all the conversations are just cut scenes
Role Playing mixes both, so you chose dialogue and do fighting
Story focuses on the conversations and makes fighting insanely easy.
I'd go with Role playing personally, as you get the best of both. No point playing ME without conversations or the fighting.

So I'm near the end of ME2,
- Spoiler:
- the save or destroy choice.
Heard this decision has a major impact on the ME3 endgame, which I have NOT finished yet. Is the destroy option still preferable? If you can just check this (WARNING-ME3 Ending list)http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=mass%20effect%202%20keep%20or%20destroy%20collector%20base&source=web&cd=8&ved=0CHAQFjAH&url=http%3A%2F%2Fgametipcenter.com%2Fmass-effect-3-endings-list&ei=LZJ4T56DD8Go0AXR-OCYDQ&usg=AFQjCNEsgdbdMC8oA10sVqgDAuQk-imQfQ which I have not checked because I have not finished ME3.
